Winifred Mary McGowan Parkhill, age 100 years, passed away peacefully at her residence at the Haven at North Hills in Ross Township, PA on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Winnie was born in Shaler Township to the late Patrick and Catherine McGowan on April 12, 1917. She was the youngest of five siblings; Rose (Silka), William McGowan, Francis McGowan, and Catherine (Hart). She was raised in Shaler and graduated from Shaler High School in 1935.

Winifred Mary McGowan Parkhill, age 100 years, passed away peacefully at her residence at the Haven at North Hills in Ross Township, PA on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Winnie was born in Shaler Township to the late Patrick and Catherine McGowan on April 12, 1917. She was the youngest of five siblings; Rose (Silka), William McGowan, Francis McGowan, and Catherine (Hart). She was raised in Shaler and graduated from Shaler High School in 1935.

She married the love of her life Clifford E. Parkhill on September 25, 1937 and together they raised their three children in the Knoxville section of Pittsburgh and later in Pleasant Hills.

She enjoyed her family, dancing, picnicking, playing scrabble, and trailering around the country in their Airstream. She maintained her home in Pleasant Hills alone to the age of 95 after the death of Cliff in 1986.

Winnie leaves behind her daughter Alice (Paul) Hluben of Shaler, sons Henry (Joanne) Parkhill of McDonough, GA and Daniel (Janice) Parkhill of Destrehan, LA. Grandchildren Christopher (Theresa) Parkhill Locust Grove, GA; Lora (Walter) Kemp of Port Matilda, PA; Carrie (Brian) Leaumont Metairie, LA. and Colin Parkhill Destrehan, LA. Great-Grandchildren Lindsey, Brandon and Jenna Kemp; Kelsey and Ryan Parkhill; Blake and Beau Leaumont. Preceded in death by her parents, her four siblings, husband Clifford, and grandson Bryan Lasher Parkhill. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday at the Healy-Hahn Funeral Home, Inc., 512 Grant Ave., Millvale. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Church, Friday at 10 AM (19 Wilson Street, Etna, PA 15223). EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shaler Township. Family suggests memorial donations to Animal Friends.
